WHAT IS PDRN

Polydeoxyribonucleotides or PDRNs are fragments of DNA, they are molecules that make up the DNA or genetic code. PDRN extracts are used in aesthetics.

The cosmetic PDRN products are most commonly derived from salmon sperm extracts, and used in skin treatments with micro needling. They may sometimes be injected if licensed for the same.

PDRN used in medical facials can help improve skin quality by activating the body’s repair mechanisms.

We use NUCLEOSKIN, a world class product from Italy that contains highly purified poly nucleotide matrices along with low concentration of cross linked hyaluronic acid & glutathione, a powerful antioxidant.

This product activates the regenerative processes of skin at two levels: deep sub dermis (adipose & bone tissue), and dermis (fibroblastic stimulation).

THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT

WHAT DO PDRNs DO IN THE BODY:

They transmit genetic information, and also activate many cell membrane receptors, and trigger biological processes that are fundamental for the life of the cells.

WHAT DO PDRNs DO FOR THE SKIN:

Based on their chemical structure, various PDRNs activate specific cellular receptors. This activation can be compared to triggering the mechanism of a lock: the PDRN is the key & the cellular receptor is the lock.

Different locks represent different receptors, which will open different doors, triggering different mechanisms within the cell. Therefore at JUVERNE we use specific PDRN combinations designed to activate the receptors in order to stimulate anti-aging processes and restore optimal skin conditions.

PDRNs in the dermis have actions of:

  • Hydration effect by binding water, further enhanced by the presence of hyaluronic acid which acts like a sponge to hold water

  • Anti-oxidant action by PDRNs by absorbing harmful free radicals, which is further enhanced by the presence of glutathione

  • Stimulation of fibroblast action and increase in fibroblast number thus cause increase in type 1 collagen (by CD39-40 receptor activation)

  • Increased metabolic activity of asset cells and reintegration of fundamental autologous parts (glycosoaminoglycans, proteins, glycoproteins) to restore function

  • Stimulation of myofibroblasts which causes a skin lifting effect

  • Improved blood flow by stimulating A2 receptors which helps create new vessels & better circulation

DR SONAM SAYS

In my practice, PDRN can be a useful tool to improve skin quality especially around the eyes and to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

PDRN works best on thin or dehydrated crepey skin, not as a substitute for collagen stimulation but as an adjunct to other regenerative protocols, like micro needling or laser resurfacing and is most effective when delivered to the appropriate depth within the skin.

Treatment plans are always tailored to the individual, but we often recommend a series of three treatments done three weeks apart.
