Micro needling

what exactly is microneedling?

Microneedling, as the name suggests involves creating multiple and tiny needle punctures on the surface of your skin. While this sounds uncomfortable, the Process is actually painless. It is done under topical anesthesia (patients are given a numbing cream to apply for one hour at home, before undergoing this treatment). The treatment feels ticklish at best, never painful - the feeling was described by one young patient as a cat licking their face.

Does this process really work?

microneedling boosts collagen production. This is backed by a large body of scientific and clinical evidence. We also know that Microneedling works to improve scars, stretch marks, open pores and skin texture. There is also evidence of it working well for uneven pigmentation including melasma.

Our skin loses collagen and elastin with age, causing wrinkles, sag and open pores. Thus microneedling helps rejuvenate skin by regenerating skin dermal components. At juverne we use Microneedling on the face, scalp & body for a number of conditions, often combining it with active products.

What is the difference between Microneedling and Dermarolling?

A dermaroller (imagine a rolling pin with needles sticking out all over) is simply one of the tools available for microneedling. It is a simple, low cost, primitive tool with different needle lengths, available for treatment in clinic and with very tiny needles, at home. We prefer not to use rollers anymore using more sophisticated devices like motorized microneedling pens. We also offer the US FDA approved Endymed INTENSIF microneedling RF - which combines deeper Microneedling with radiofrequency for advanced treatments.

I use a dermaroller at home. How is this different from the in-office Treatments?

Microneedling involves breaching the skin and should not be undertaken casually. It requires careful sterility, pre and post care and correct depth selection for safety. For most individuals it is best recommended to avoid self administered needling at home.

At home treatments should certainly not be too deep, as that can increase risk of complications & side effects and may actually worsen the skin. In a clinical setting you received an intense controlled procedure, using medical grade (read stronger) products in trained hands. home care formulae are almost always gentler. This may be useful for many people but is not comparable to a Clinical facial.

What can be the Best at-home products?

A medical grade roller up to 0.5 mm depth may be used at home with aseptic precautions under strict medical guidance. At JUVERNE we do not recommend that our patients use Needling devices at home, they are instead put on the most potent topical products (creams, serums, lotions) to safely deliver superior results at home.

What about the products used in clinic?

The Professional products used in our treatments include strong acids and enzyme chemical peels, serum actives and needles that go as deep as 3 mm. Our needling is done with a motorized pen device - rarely alone but more commonly in combination treatments. Needling and invasive Treatments are done by the doctor only. These aggressive protocols in clinic allow us to give better faster results.

Will i get faster results combining clinic treatments with home based products?

Yes, this is the ideal method - we prescribe home care regime to every client and use bespoke protocols in clinic. Our goal is to achieve faster better results with fewer visits - always under medical guidance.

What are the possible Side effects of microneedling in clinic or at home?

After a clinical treatment at jUVERNE, most patients get a few hours of redness and up to 3 days of dryness (easily overcome by bland moisturizer and cold compresses). This is a temporary expected result, immediately post procedure. Careless, incorrect or an excessive treatment can cause increased downtime, lasting redness, Bleeding & the risk of long term scarring. Thus it is imperative to choose your provider well. A good start is a treatment done by a medical doctor, after consult, prescribed aftercare, accesible support & follow ups.
